JAZZ LOUNGE PRESENTS: Simon Latarche with the Old Bakery Little Big Band and special guests Ella Julian and Gerry Gillard.
A few months ago we hosted a much lauded night celebrating tunes recorded by the Blue Note record label. Old Bakery favourites The Simon Latarch Quartet (Simon, Keith Marshall, Sam Norman and Sarah McDonagh) were joined on that very special night by Mike Rowlands (on Alto Sax) and Robin Pengilley (on Trumpet) and in the magic that followed THE OLD BAKERY LITTLE BIG BAND was born!
And now we've got them all back for you again - this time with even more talent as the little big band will be joined by special guests Gerry Gillard (guitar and vocals) and Ella Julian (vocals).
Simon is busy curating a fantastic cross section of jazz from across the decades. There will be classics from the Little Big Band and the guest artistes will also be picking and performing some of their personal favourites. Ranging from Sinatra/ Nina Simone to Esperanza Spalding with an original composition or two for good measure, this is going to be another top-drawer night of jazz.

THE SIMON LATARCHE QUARTET:
The Simon Latarche Quartet have now hosted a number of highly acclaimed, sold out Jazz Lounge events at Old Bakery Studios. Simon and his house band have also run a number of successful Jazz Jam's at the Bakery, pulling large audiences and top-notch musicians from Cornwall and beyond.
"Mixing excellent originals by pianist Simon Latache and saxophonist/flautist Sarah McDonagh with a few well known standards - the quartet demonstrated their remarkable individual skills with a rock solid unity of purpose. Percussionist Keith Marshall and bassist Sam Norman, a formidable rhythm section, also shone on some inventive solos. The SLQ is certainly at the forefront of contemporary jazz ensembles in Cornwall, offering a special evening of accessible and rewarding jazz.... Latarche's compositions are a near perfect combination of lyricism and improvisation and the ensemble provides finely knit support to Latarche's considerable talents as a pianist."
